Short-term Japanese Course
Offering elementary to advanced one-week lessons, this course is aimed at students who are not able to attend classes regularly or who arrive in the middle of a semester.
International students and foreign researchers who are currently affiliated with the University of Tokyo are eligible to take the courses.
Since this is a one-week limited course, it goes without saying that it does not cover all the content of each level. However, every level focuses on immediately applicable Japanese. It can also be an opportunity for those who usually self-study to challenge their practical skills and enjoy classroom learning.
The offered classes and schedules vary depending on the semester. Please check the latest course information on the Course Calendar.

|
[Short] Level 5 Further Steps |
The target learners are students who are at the advanced level. Focusing on Japanese language 'request' scenarios, the course uses videos of actual conversational situations and experiences of international students. It observes and discusses the preferences of native Japanese speakers, how they prefer to express themselves, how they develop topics, and the underlying thoughts in various conversational contexts. Through these learning activities, the goal is to understand the characteristics of consideration towards the listener in Japanese and apply them to one's own practical use of the language. The content of 24S is the same as the first half (S1) of the General Course 'Advanced Japanese for Communication.' If you are unable to attend such a regular course, taking this course would be a good alternative. [Content] Goals of each lesson:
