GLP-I Global Leadership Summit 2025A Concludes Successfully

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Center for Global Education (GlobE) successfully hosted the GLP-I Global Leadership Summit 2025A. This event served as the student achievement presentation session for the
Global Leadership Program-I (GLP-I).The GLP-I was initiative launched in the 2024 academic year, open to all undergraduate students at the University of Tokyo. Through a diversity of interconnected learning experiences, the program aims to make a positive impact on society.
The Global Leadership Summit is an opportunity for students to present the culmination of their studies. The October 2025 event marked the inaugural iteration of this significant gathering. Ten students, who have successfully completed all mandatory components of the GLP-I took the stage to share their findings.
Approximately 40 people attended the event, including guests from companies, organizations, and individuals supporting the educational activities of GlobE, current GLP-I students, GlobE faculty and staff, and attendees from the University of Tokyo Homecoming Day. The Summit commenced with opening remarks from Professor Yujin Yaguchi, Director of the Center for Global Education (GlobE). This was followed by encouraging messages for emerging global leaders, delivered by guests from our supporting companies.
The students presented the outcomes of their action-oriented proactive learning and academic inquiry on a wide range of themes, such as:
- “Exploring Partnerships for Sustainable Development”
- “A Case Study in the UAE on Sustainable Urban Development”
- “Roots of Sustainability: Forest Conservation in Indonesia and Japan”
The concluding segment of the event featured the announcement of three awards: the “Global Leadership Prize”, the “SDGs Prize” and the "Audience Impression Award. Following this, a ceremony was held for two students who completed the GLP-I upon their successful presentation at the Summit.
The event concluded with a powerful closing message from Professor Masami Nakao, Vice Director of GlobE. She encouraged the students to utilize the new perspectives gained through the Summit to forge their path as global leaders.
