Global Liberal Arts Courses

The Global Liberal Arts Courses are offered by the Center for Global Education (GlobE), with the aim of providing interdisciplinary discussion on global issues that the contemporary world faces - particularly in relation to the "SDGs" (Sustainable Development Goals). The topics include gender, diversity, health, poverty, and environment, all of which are taught in English.

Enrollment is open to all students in the Senior Division. Those in the fourth semester of the Junior Division as well as graduate students may also register. Exchange students are also eligible to take these courses. Classes are primarily discussion-based and interactive, with a standard class size of about 20 students. By learning alongside peers across various academic disciplines and national boundaries, the courses aim to help students to learn how to articulate their own ideas persuasively in English, listen to differing opinions, and explore better paths through dialogue.

Global Leadership Program-I

"UTokyo Global Leadership Program (GLP)" provides opportunities to learn alongside faculty and students from diverse backgrounds, both from Japan and abroad, on and off campus. Participants will develop effective communication skills by listening to a wide range of global voices and learning to express their ideas clearly. They will also cultivate leadership skills aimed at building and transforming a better society by addressing global challenges from multiple angles.

The GLP is a university-wide program for all undergraduate students interested in developing leadership skills and global careers. The program emphasizes the importance of diversity, inclusion, and the transdisciplinary, solution-oriented approaches needed to address global issues in the 21st century.

Among GLP, GLP-I is conducted primarily in English.
