What is Go Global Gateway?

Go Global Gateway (GGG) is a program designed for all undergraduate students at UTokyo to develop their “global competence” (the ability to live and work together with diverse  people around  the world).
GGG awards certificates to students who fulfill requirements and submit a certification request. The certificates will attest to  your global competence and can be an asset during job search and other endeavors.
 

The Certification Process

◆ GGG certificate will be awarded upon satisfying the requirements ①, ② and ③ and/or ④, and submitting the designated form. 

① On-demand Online Course 【Mandatory】
② Languages 【Mandatory】
③ Courses offered in languages other than your first language
and/or ④ Global Experiences 【One of them is mandatory】

① On-demand Online Course

The course, which consists of videos and quizzes, provides comprehensive information on various opportunities offered by UTokyo. We encourage you to take the course as early as possible after your admission to UTokyo.

*Students are also encouraged to participate in international exchange events, such as "GO GLOBAL UTokyo Study Abroad Fair" hosted by Center for Global Education (UTokyo GlobE). Although not a requirement for the certificate, these events are valuable opportunities to prepare for studying abroad and other activities during your college years.

② Foreign Language Courses 
Earn all the credits for  foreign language courses (Foundation and Integrated Courses) required by  the Junior Division at UTokyo.

③ Courses offered in languages other than your first language
Complete at least one course taught in a language other than your first language. This includes courses offered by GlobE, such as Global Liberal Arts Courses (GLA), Language-Global Liberal Arts Courses (L-GLA), and Global Leadership Program Courses (GLC) , as well as UTokyo Global Unit Courses (GUC).

④ Global Experiences
Participate in at least one overseas program. This includes programs offered by GlobE, such as University-wide Student Exchange Program (USTEP) and summer/winter short-term programs, as well as student exchange programs at faculty/graduate school.


  If you complete Global Leadership Program-I (GLP-I) and/or Global Leadership Program-II (Trilingual Program) (GLP-II (TLP)), which are part of the "Global Leadership Program" offered by GlobE, along with the ① On-demand Online Course, you will be awarded the GGG+ (Plus) certificate.

On-demand Online Course

As the first step in engaging in international activities at UTokyo, start with the On-demand Online Course. This course provides comprehensive information on various opportunities for international activities and programs offered by UTokyo. You can also hear stories from current UTokyo students and GlobE faculties about their global experiences.
Completion of the course is  mandatory for applying to and participating in various activities at UTokyo, such as GO GLOBAL Study Abroad Fairs, University-wide Student Exchange Program (USTEP), and short-term study abroad programs, etc. We encourage you to take the course as early as possible.


Course Description
The course consists of the following four themes. For each theme, there are one or two videos and several quizzes (multiple-choice and essay-type questions) to assess your understanding.

● Why engage in international activities?
● What is "Global Competence"?
● The mindset required for international activities
● UTokyo’s study abroad programs and international educations

The Course Enrollment Process
1. By clicking the button below, you will gain access to the form for the course . Watch the videos for each section and answer the subsequent quizzes.
2. After submitting your answers, click "View Results" on the screen and review your responses.
3. Save the notification which will be sent to your email address registered in UTAS upon your completion of the course. (The notification will be sent separately from the automatic email sent from the form.)

Estimated time required: Approximately 100 minutes, including video viewing and quizzes.

- Sign in with your UTokyo Account to access the course.
- The form is not set up to temporarily save of your responses
- Each person can submit the form only once.

Application for GGG Certificate

Once you have met the requirements, apply for the GGG Certificate!
Click the button below to open the Application Form for  the GGG Certificate, fill out the required fields, and submit.


【Notes】
- Sign in with your UTokyo Account to access the form.
- The application is only available to undergraduate students. Please note that graduate students are not eligible to apply.
- When applying for the certificate after completing "④ Global Experiences," you will need to upload a document verifying your participation in the relevant program or activity (e.g., completion certificate, program report) within the form. Make sure to prepare this in advance.
- Once your application has been reviewed by the GlobE office, a notification will be sent to your email address registered in UTAS.
