On Monday, October 28 at 18:00, as Dialogue at UTokyo GlobE #11, a talk event with Ms. Michelle Baron (Corporate Vice President of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.) and Professor Kaori Hayashi, Executive Vice President)was held.

In the first half of the event, Ms. Baron, who has worked in multiple countries in the traditionally male dominated industry, shared her experiences on the importance of creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. This was discussed in the context of initiatives actually being undertaken by Nissan. Her lecture, titled "Unleashing Power of Diversity in International Workplace," included practical examples from Nissan, a global company. The talk not only highlighted the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in corporate management, but also conveyed the message that it is important to choose organizations that value DEI when shaping one's career. This served as a valuable guide for the participating students!

In the latter half, a dialogue was held with Professor Kaori Hayashi, who is the Executive Vice President in charge of international affairs and diversity & inclusion at the University of Tokyo. This was followed by a Q&A session with the participants. Questions were asked about the challenges of promoting DEI, efforts towards DEI in a global context, and responses to the so-called "glass ceiling". Each question was answered with enthusiasm.

Dialogue at UTokyo GlobE: As part of the University's global education, a dialogue series designed to deepen students' international understanding and broaden their global perspectives through dialogue between prominent leaders from around the world and the President and Executive Directors of UTokyo.
