The University of Tokyo - Asian University for Women (AUW) Joint Summer Program & Symposium

From Monday, July 29 to Thursday, August 8, UTokyo hosted the “UTokyo-AUW Joint Summer Program.” In the program, 12 undergraduate students from Asian University for Women (AUW) and 12 undergraduate students from UTokyo learned together about the theme “Body, Environment and Sustainability” through lectures by experts from both inside and outside the university. In addition to the lectures on campus, the students participated in off-campus activities including a one-day excursion to a farm in Kisarazu, Chiba, a visit to the Mori Art Museum and JICA, and a workshop at the Ariake office of Fast Retailing. Co., Ltd..
On Thursday, August 8, a public symposium was held as the final project of the ten-day program. During the symposium, the students presented their learning outcomes through posters. The symposium also featured a keynote speech by Sputniko! (Artist/Associate Professor of Design at Tokyo University of the Arts/Founder and CEO of Cradle Inc.) on the theme “Empowering Diversity with Technology,” and the students engaged in discussions with her.
After the symposium, the students bid farewell to each other, reflecting on their time spent together during the program. The AUW students returned to Bangladesh the following day.
