STEP2: Take on Programs for the Senior Division
Participate in the Global Leadership Program (GLP)
The University of Tokyo Global Leadership Program (GLP) is a scholarship-supported program designed to empower your global experiences, such as studying abroad. The GLP consists of two tracks, GLP-I and GLP-II (TLP), each with its own distinct concept.
GLP-I: The Gobal Leadership Program-I (GLP-I) is a program conducted primarily in English. Building on foundational course taught in English about leadership skills, you will develop your leadership through practical experiences, such as academic exploration of contemporary social issues and the Global Experience program.
GLP-II(TLP): The Global Leadership Program-II (Trilingual Program) (GLP-II (TLP)) is offered in six different languages: German, French, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and Korean. It aims to cultivate advanced language skills and cultural understanding necessary for making a good contribution in the international society, and ultimately to enhance global competence, through studying another language in addition to Japanese and English and exploring contemporary issues in multiple languages.
Most completion requirements for the GLP can be started from the 4th semester of your 2nd year, once your Senior Division placement is confirmed (the 2nd-year A Semester for April enrollees). Beginning your efforts in the A Semester will allow you to fulfill the completion requirements more reliably and receive scholarships. In particular, students are strongly encouraged to take the mandatory GLP-I course, "Global Leadership Course (GLC-I: Leadership Foundation)," during this fourth semester of the Junior Division.
