Dialogue at UTokyo GlobE #12: Talk Event with His Excellency Mr. Sibi George, Ambassador of India to Japan

On Friday, December 13, Dialogue at UTokyo GlobE #12 featured a talk event with His Excellency Mr. Sibi George, Ambassador of India to Japan, alongside President Teruo Fujii and Executive Vice President Kaori Hayashi.

In the first half of the event, H.E. Mr. Sibi George delivered a lecture titled "India-Japan Partnership in the Indo-Pacific and Beyond." He reflected on the historical ties between India and Japan and discussed the importance of collaboration between the two nations in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.

In the latter half, the Ambassador, President Fujii, and Executive Vice President Hayashi engaged in a thoughtful discussion on the potential for academic exchanges between India and Japan. Students posed a number of questions on topics such as JITs (Japanese Industrial Townships) and the roles of the two countries in addressing global challenges such as climate change. The dialogue offered a valuable opportunity to deepen the students’ understanding of India-Japan relations.

A collection of books on India's history, culture, and literature was generously donated in connection with the event.
