On November 29 (Fri), 2024, International Student Support Room (ISSR), Center for Global Education conducted the Career Development Symposium for International Students "Working in Japan – Open Discussion with HR staff from Japanese Companies" at Student Plaza, Center for Global Education (GlobE), Hongo Campus. This symposium aims to provide an opportunity for students to design their own post-graduation career paths by directly interacting with companies.
45 international students who wish to find a job in Japan had an “honest discussion” with more than 25 personnel, junior employees, and UTokyo alumni in 23 Japanese and foreign-affiliated global companies from a variety of industries. A wide range of topics were covered; international students discussed concerns about how to plan for their careers in Japan, such as choosing the right company and dealing with the changing workstyles in Japan. They also received job-hunting tips on writing “Entry Sheets” (a designated resume/CV given by a company) and preparing for job interviews.
