Interactive events with students of Princeton University
2024.07.08
Students of Princeton University stayed in Tokyo from June 17 to July 4. During this period, 14 Princeton and 16 UTokyo students interacted in social events. On the first day, UTokyo students gave their Princeton peers a guided tour of the campus, featuring such iconic places as the General Library, Yasuda Auditorium, and Ginkgo Avenue. The campus tour was followed by a welcome party where they enjoyed informal conversations over dinner.
On June 19, we also had a film screening event which 9 students of Columbia University also joined. Students from the 3 institutions watched "Japani", a visual ethnography on Nepalese migrant workers in Japan. Students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds actively exchanged opinions and asked many questions to Dr. Dipesh Kharel, who directed the ethnographic film, and Dr. Yuki Ohara, who gave a follow-up lecture on migration trends in South Asia.
Professor Yujin Yaguchi, who serves as Director of GlobE, moderated a discussion event on June 24. The students of Princeton, Columbia, and UTokyo discussed the differences between Japanese and American universities.
There was a farewell party on July 3rd, and Princeton and UTokyo students enjoyed interacting with each other till the last moment!
