2024.08.06
On Thursday, June 20, 2024, the Kashiwa Branch of the Center for Global Education participated in the "Discover KABUKI" event hosted by the Japan Arts Council and the Agency for Cultural Affairs at Sun Pearl Arakawa. The Kashiwa Branch has participated in this event annually, providing foreigners with an opportunity to experience Japanese culture. This year, 40 international students and researchers joined the event.

During the event, an optional tour organized by five Japanese student volunteers was designed to foster interaction among participants before and after the performance. The tour included activities such as exploring the Tsukiji-Ginza area, experiencing ninja training, collecting Goshuin stamps, visiting a cat café, and more. These activities deepened participants' understanding of Japanese culture and fostered camaraderie among them.

During the Kabuki performance, everyone watched attentively, captivated by the stage, the performers' dazzling costumes and graceful movements, and the spirited dialogue and vocal performances in the Kamigata dialect.

After the hour-and-a-half performance, attendees exchanged opinions and impressions, with comments such as, "The show went by so quickly," "I'm curious about what happens next!" and "It was very enjoyable, including the cultural background. I’d love to attend again."
