Applications now open for the UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program 2024

The Amgen Scholars Program is a summer internship program aimed at cultivating future scientists and innovators, primarily targeting undergraduate students majoring in science and biotechnology. The program is conducted at over 20 universities and institutions worldwide, offering practical, specialized, and intensive research experiences. Expenses such as airfare, accommodation, and living allowances are covered by the program.

In addition to students from universities in Asian countries, students from the University of Tokyo can apply not only to the program at the University of Tokyo but also to programs held at Kyoto University, a selected institution in the Asia Program, as well as the National University of Singapore and Tsinghua University. In any of these programs, motivated students gather and actively engage in research activities.

Participants of UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program stay together in the same accommodation throughout the program. They are affiliated with research laboratories the Graduate School of Medicine, Engineering, Science, Agricultural and Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Institute of Industrial Science, contributing to cutting-edge research. Additionally, they participate in various events, including research presentations and a short trip.

At the end of the program, participants attend a joint symposium with the four participating schools in the Asia Program. This symposium includes research presentations and opportunities for interaction with participants from other universities.
