Cultural Experience: UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program 2026

On July 9, scholars of the UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program 2026 participated in a Kōdō (Japanese incense ceremony) experience as part of the program's cultural activities. Guided by art historian and Kōdō researcher Hanako Shimada, they learned about the origins and history of Kōdō and took part in traditional activities, including Genji-kō and scented sachet making.

The experience provided a valuable opportunity for the scholars to explore the depth and richness of Japanese culture through fragrance.
