UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program 2025 Kicks Off

2025.06.12
The UTokyo Amgen Scholars Program 2025 officially kicked off on June 5, welcoming 13 highly motivated undergraduate students from across the Asian region. Over the next eight weeks, these aspiring scientists will engage in hands-on, cutting-edge research at laboratories affiliated with the Graduate Schools of Medicine, Engineering, Science, and Agricultural and Life Sciences.

The program began with a lecture on Environment and Safety, delivered by the Environmental Science Center. A lively Welcome Lunch followed, bringing together over 50 attendees — including the scholars, UTokyo students, faculty and staff from participating laboratories and graduate schools, Amgen Scholars Program alumni, as well as faculty members from GlobE — to celebrate the launching of the program. Each scholar gave a brief self-introduction. Some shared their research goals for the summer, while others spoke about their future aspirations in science.

The first day wrapped up with a guided tour of the Hongo Campus. Three mentors from participating laboratories joined the tour, enthusiastically sharing insights into the history and significance of the campus’s iconic buildings and landmarks.

We look forward to seeing these scholars flourish over the coming weeks — through exciting research, cross-cultural learning, and friendships that will last far beyond the program.
