The Amgen Scholars Program for the year 2023 began

The Amgen Scholars Program for the year 2023 began on June 6th. Approximately 40 outstanding undergraduate students, selected from over 800 applicants from universities around the world, gathered at the University of Tokyo to commence their research internships.

The Amgen Scholars Program aims to cultivate future scientists and innovators, primarily focusing on undergraduate students specializing in the fields of medicine and life sciences. It provides a summer internship program at 24 universities and institutions around the world, offering practical, specialized, and intensive research experiences. The program is conducted in English.

Participants at the program hosted by the University of Tokyo stay together in the same accommodation throughout the program. They are assigned to research laboratories, engaging in cutting-edge research. Additionally, they participate in various events such as research presentations and short trips. After the conclusion of the program, they join a joint symposium with participants from four major universities in Asia, held in Singapore. They present their research findings and interact with participants from other universities' programs. It is a program that allows participants to gain international experience and foster friendships with peers from around the world.
